With Halloween only a few days away, we thought it might be a good time to talk about your deepest, darkest fears.

What terrifies you the most?

Slasher movies?

Grave Yards?

What about our Holly, MI dentist’s office?

If the thing you are most afraid of is visiting the dentist. Then you are not alone. But the really scary thing is what dental anxiety can do to your health if you let it get in the way of the care you deserve.

Today, we are going to talk about why you should let Dr. Hunter address your fears with sedation dentistry. Keep reading, and then be sure to follow up with our team to schedule your next appointment at Holly Dental Care.

Dental Checkups Matter

We understand that many folks who grew up in an earlier era of dentistry were subjected to harsh treatments and cold-feeling offices. They may not have had the individualized care that they needed, or there concerns may not have been adequately addressed. Maybe you can relate. But whatever you had to deal with in the past, our team is committed to making your experiences better moving forward.

Dr. Hunter will tell you that it is never in your best interest to avoid the cleanings that keep tooth decay and gum disease at bay or to skip the oral exams that tell us if anything is amiss in your mouth. So, if you need some help to be able to get through these sessions, that is never a problem. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to stay on track. Depending on the severity of your situation, we can set you up with sedation in one of three forms:

Nitrous Oxide

For this method, we will administer nitrous oxide to you via a small mask that rests over your nose. You will breathe normally throughout your procedure, and our Holly Dental Care team can regulate the amount of sedation you receive.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is a prescription sedative that our team will arrange for you to ingest, usually about an hour before your actual appointment is scheduled to take place. Oral sedation is far more intense than nitrous oxide, and will put you at ease for the duration of your visit.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is a very direct and powerful method of sedation, and its effects will be felt almost immediately. For this technique, a sedative is delivered directly into your bloodstream by way of an intravenous injection.

This will no doubt make you feel very relaxed, and able to get through even our most intense procedures.

You will soon forget why you were ever afraid of us!
