Hello and welcome to another July edition of the Holly Dental Care blog!
Have you ever been uncomfortably poked and prodded by your dentist?
Did you ever have a bad experience with a scalpel or dental drill?
Well, we are happy to report that times have changed at least at this Holly, Michigan dentist’s office. Our team invests heavily in training and technology so that you won’t have to be subjected to any antiquated procedures and methodology.
Instead, when you visit us, it will be an EASY and PLEASANT experience every time. And if it isn’t, we want to hear about it.
Keep reading to hear about some of the modern touches we have put into place, and then be sure to follow up with our team to make your next appointment.
Air Is Easier On You Than Drills
Many folks are unsettled by the smells, sounds, and sensations of the dental drill. As such, rather than drills, we now use air abrasion technology to scrape away decay.
How does it work? This handheld device aims air and a stream of particles at the affected surface to painlessly blast away decayed areas. Anesthetic may not even be necessary with this soft tool.
Digital X-rays Mean Less Radiation, More Reliable Results
Rather than relying on film to document images of your teeth and gums, we make use of a modern digital X-ray machine. It has a special sensor that gets placed in your mouth and sends the image to our computer, where it can be stored and viewed easily and readily.
Just so you know, digital X-rays produce 90% less radiation than conventional X-rays.
VELscope Cancer Detection System
Undetected oral cancer can result in an untimely death. That said, it is a very curable condition when it is detected and treated right away. Around here, you will get access to one of the most advanced oral cancer screening systems in the business: VELscope. VELscope is a great new device that features a special light that illuminates any dangerous growths and tissues that probably would have been missed in previous eras by the ordinary scanners we had to work with.
Nowadays, the results are available immediately, and we can discuss them with you before you leave our office so that no valuable time is wasted.
Laser-Guided Cavity Detection
Did you know that many cavities will not be seen through visual examination or even on X-rays. This will mean trouble for you because these small cavities can grow without showing symptoms, until it’s too late for an easy solution. Large fillings, root canals, and extractions may be required if it is allowed to run wild in your mouth.
The good news is that, at this practice, we utilize DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection system to identify problems faster, so they can be addressed and repaired without significant damage to your tooth. You’ll thank us for all the money and pain that we saved you!
Watch for more information on this system in our next blog post!
