Welcome back to our Holly, Michigan dentistry blog!
Here at Holly Dental Care, we make it our mission to offer innovative and comprehensive oral health care in one convenient location (our office on North Saginaw Street). That’s because we know that we are engaged in an important endeavor that should be accessible to everyone in our community. After all, having a dentist you can trust to look after your ever-evolving dental needs (and to keep up with the changing times) will be the key to keeping your mouth healthy and your smile looking its best at every stage of life.
We Build On Your Efforts
When it comes to taking care of your teeth, there are always going to be some things that you will have to take care of by yourself at home. Think about it: brushing your teeth twice or more each day, flossing regularly, and rinsing with a fluoride mouthwash are solitary tasks that you will always be responsible for carrying out without anyone looking over your shoulder.
Yet, even if you are diligent about your home hygiene practices, that won’t be sufficient for keeping your smile on-track. There are always going to be certain other things that can only be accomplished at the dentist’s office.
Lucky for you, our team will be here to serve as your partners, building on your hard work. And you’ll be pleased to know that your oral health partners in Holly invest heavily in continuing our own education and in procuring the best tools and technology that modern dentistry can deliver.
These investments of time and resources enable us to detect potential threats to your health and shut them down long before you would ever be able to spot them on your own.
Catching Cavities The Modern Way
With us on your side, you won’t have to worry much about cavities ruining your smile or your life. If noticed before the decay makes it through your enamel into the soft pulp of your tooth, cavities can be quickly contained and the health of your smile can be easily restored.
Letting us professionally clean your teeth every six months will make it hard for the plaque, bacteria, and tartar (that remain after your work at home) to do much damage. Plus, during your thorough semi-annual oral exam, we will look for the telltale signs of cavities before your treatment options become less conservative than fillings (no one wants to go through an unnecessary root canal or extraction, right?).
This is where our investment in technology helps you. You see, historically there have been limitations in diagnostic tools available to dentists for the detection of certain types of cavities. These limitations sometimes resulted in the missed diagnosis of cavities as well as false positives (inadvertent diagnosis of cavities that actually did not exist).
That’s why we have recently purchased additional cavity detection instruments that employ the latest and greatest dental technologies. These newfangled diagnostic tools utilize a laser or LED-based spectroscopy. This approach has to do with looking for the specific colors that certain dangerous bacteria will give off when subjected to such scans. As such, they are often referred to as a “Doppler Radar” type of cavity detection. You don’t have to fully understand the way it works to grasp that this advancement will benefit you by allowing us to find the most common types of cavities earlier than ever before, thereby allowing for minimal cavity repairs that are easier on you and your pocketbook.
This modern process is simple, pain-free and only takes a few minutes to save your smile!
