At Holly Dental Care we make it our mission to make it easy for you to get the high-quality dental care you deserve. There are three ways in which we make our Holly, MI dentist’s office more accessible than most: our staff takes a gentle and caring approach to dentistry; our physical space is warm and inviting; and we invest in all the modern technology that allows for pain-free time-saving procedures.
Keep reading to see a few examples of the latter, and then be sure to get in touch to schedule an appointment with one of our gentle dentists!
VELscope Cancer Detection
Here’s the thing: oral cancer is a silent killer when it is not caught and treated early enough. Far too many people die from this treatable disease because they don’t know until it is too late to do much about it.
Fortunately that doesn’t have to be your fate. Whenever you come in for a checkup you can trust that we are dutifully looking around for any signs that something is amiss such as cancer.
At Holly Dental Care, we have invested in one of the most advanced oral cancer screening systems ever designed: VELscope. We did this because our patients are important to us.
This is how it works: VELscope comes equipped with a special light that illuminates any dangerous growths and tissues that probably would have been missed in the old days by the ordinary scanners we had at our disposal. You won’t have to waste any precious time waiting around for results.
Laser-Based Cavity Detection
You may have found out the hard way that visual examinations and X-rays don’t always catch cavities. This will cause trouble for you later on because these small cavities can end up requiring large fillings, root canals, and possibly extractions if they aren’t addressed early enough.
This won’t be a problem for you at Holly Dental Care. We now utilize the DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection system to identify decay faster, so that your teeth can be repaired without significant damage.
Instead of relying on 19th century technology (film) to capture images of your teeth and gums, we make use of a modern digital X-ray machine. It has a special sensor that gets placed in your mouth and sends the image to our computer, where it can be stored and viewed easily.
Honestly, the real benefit to you is that digital X-rays produce 90% less radiation, so you won’t be glowing when you leave our chair!
Rather than drills, we now make use of air abrasion technology to scrape away any decay. This handheld device aims air and a stream of particles at the affected surface to painlessly blast away decayed zones.
