Do you ever have that terrifying moment when you realize that you’re going to be speaking closely with someone, and your breath is not in a sharable condition? We have probably all had that experience from time to time, but what about those people who suffer from bad breath on a routine basis? These patients suffer from halitosis, and if you are one of them, there are some things you can do to make yourself a bit more comfortable around other people.
1) Drink Water – Keeping your mouth hydrated is the best thing you can do to fight bad breath. Saliva naturally eliminates bacteria in your mouth causing the bad breath, but in order for saliva to be produced, you need to stay hydrated.
2) Avoid Mints – When you get that yucky taste in your mouth, it’s tempting to want to grab a mint and go on. Unfortunately, most mints are full of sugar. Once the mint itself is gone, your mouth is left with sugary residue that actually feed the bacteria causing the problem. Chew sugar-free gum instead.
3) Floss – You’ve probably picked up on the fact that battling bad breath is really battling bacteria. Flossing is a major weapon in this battle. Floss twice a day to remove bacteria from between your teeth.
4) Clean Tongue – The tongue is often forgotten when it comes time to brush your teeth. If you struggle with bad breath, be sure to take the time to scrape and brush your tongue twice a day.
The removal of bacteria in your mouth is paramount when you are trying to lose the bad breath. These tips will get you started.
